2006/2007 Survey Results Report
The Review Committee on Outcomes Survey Results Report was prepared based on the survey measures identified by the Review Committee on Outcomes. The analysis of the results in this report is based on a rolled-up summary percentage for all questions in the measure for each respondent group. For each measure, overall results are calculated as an average of rolled-up summary percentages for the related respondent groups. The survey questions were included in the 2006/2007 Satisfaction with Education in Alberta Surveys of public, teachers, school board members, superintendents, senior high school students and parents of kindergarten to Grade 12 students. Highlights of the results and opportunities for improvement are given below.

Highlights
- 95% of students, parents, teachers, board members, superintendents and the public agreed that teachers have specialized knowledge and skills, apply knowledge and skills using reasoned judgment and that they provide a service to society.
- 93% of teachers, parents, students, board members and superintendents agreed that students are safe, are treated fairly and are learning the importance of caring and respect for others in school.
- 91% of students, parents, teachers, board members and superintendents were satisfied that teachers help students achieve learning expectations and high standards.
- 89% of teachers, parents, students, board members and superintendents satisfied that the student learning resources (such as text books, audio and video materials) that are available at schools meet student needs.
- 88% of high school students, parents, teachers, board members and superintendents agreed that students model the characteristics of active citizenship.
- 88% of parents, students and teachers agreed that there is mutual respect and trust between teachers and students.
- 87% of students, parents, teachers, board members, superintendents and public respondents reported that they were satisfied with the overall quality of education in Alberta.
- 86% of parents, teachers, board members and superintendents agreed that Alberta Education, school boards and schools use the results of student, teacher, program, school and school system evaluation to improve student learning.
- 86% of parents, teachers, board members and superintendents were satisfied with parental involvement in decisions about their child’s education.
- 85% of students, parents, teachers, board members, superintendents and public were satisfied that students are receiving a solid grounding in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
- 85% of parents, teachers, board members and superintendents agreed that students arrive at school ready to learn.
- 85% of teachers, board members and superintendents agreed that in-services received by teachers from the school authority have been focused, systematic and contributed significantly to their on-going professional growth.
Opportunities for Improvement
- 51% of teachers, parents, board members, superintendents and public respondents were satisfied that their input is considered, respected and valued by the province.
- 58% of teachers, board members and superintendents were satisfied that school facilities, space and equipment meet the program delivery needs of staff.
- 64% of parents, teachers, board members, superintendents and the public were agreed that the learning system is committed to consultation, research, and the principles of the School Act.
- 65% of students, teachers and public respondents were satisfied that their input is considered, respected and valued by their school.
- 65% of parents, teachers, board members, superintendents and the public were satisfied that the learning system is highly accountable and communicates effectively with the public.
- 67% of parents, teachers, board members, superintendents and the public respondents were satisfied that their input is considered, respected and valued by their board.
- 67% of parents, teachers, board members and superintendents were satisfied that the leadership at the school, school board and provincial levels effectively supports and facilitates teaching and learning.
