The purpose of this Working Together Toolkit is to help superintendents, division office leaders, principals, school leaders and education partners build capacity and develop partnerships.
The toolkit helps ensure that our children and youth have access to an equitable and inclusive education system. It is intended to increase the ability of school authorities, system leaders and school-based leaders to form collaborative, shared-governance teams with education partners to ensure success for all learners.
The four stage approach outlined in this resource was designed to help decide which partnership(s) are best suited to their common cause and identify collaborative practices to assist in the development of their partnership. It includes information on developing effective agreements, guidelines, tip sheets and strategies for effective meetings and samples of effective collaborative decision-making.
This toolkit was developed by a Collaborative Practices and Partnership Team with representation from: Alberta Education, the Alberta School Boards Association, the Alberta School Councils’ Association, the College of Alberta School Superintendents and the Alberta Teachers’ Association.
