French Education Services Branch Information
The French Education Services Branch provides strategic leadership in establishing provincial standards and guidelines for curriculum for Français (French-first-language) and French Language Arts. As part of the ministry’s ongoing focus on student learning, the French Education Services Branch produces developmentally appropriate Français and French Language Arts K–12 curriculum to empower Francophone and Francophile students to achieve their full potential while developing their language, identity and culture. French Education Services supports the Francisation program and French as a Second Language courses and provides services to the Francophone community.

This role will be from approximately September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2020 with possibility for extension. The service days per your collective agreement will be honoured but there will be no guarantee of alignment with your school authority's natural breaks.
We are seeking an educator from a Francophone Regional Authority with a strong leadership background and teaching experience with Francophone students. Working with the French Education Services Branch, you will contribute your leadership and experience in developing Français curriculum for Francophone schools. You will demonstrate knowledge of current research on teaching and learning and curriculum development. As well, an understanding of the complex nature of learning French in a minority context is required. Through the vision of an educated Alberta – students are lifelong learners inspired to pursue their aspirations and interests; achieve fulfillment and success; and contribute to communities in the world – you will support the development of high quality Français curriculum.
Experience at the school authority and familiarity with Education policies and documents that relate to Francophone education will be an asset. You will be well informed of educational issues and research, recognizing the changing landscape of education and the workplace and embracing the challenges presented.
This position will work in a collaborative environment with various teams throughout the division and across the Government of Alberta. You will demonstrate leadership, communication, collaboration and teamwork skills with staff, clients and stakeholders (i.e. teachers, post-secondary community, administrators, parents, First Nations, Metis and Inuit representatives, and Francophone representatives) as it relates to the support and development of Français curriculum.
