The High School Mathematics & Sciences Branch leads the development of grades 10–12 programs of study and resources for the following areas:

This exciting role will be from approximately September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2020 with possibility for extension. The service days per your collective agreement will be honoured, but there will be no guarantee of alignment with your jurisdiction’s natural breaks.
You will provide curriculum expertise in French for the development of mathematics-related programs of study as part of the developing phase of provincial curriculum development. You will provide curriculum expertise to internal and external committees including inter-provincial activities as assigned. A background in curriculum theory, mathematics in French, mathematics education and experience with program development in Grade 5 to 12 mathematics would be an asset.
This exciting role will be working in a collaborative environment with various teams throughout the division and across the Government of Alberta. You will demonstrate leadership, communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills. You will work with staff, clients, and stakeholders (i.e. teachers, post-secondary community, administrators, parents, First Nations, Metis and Inuit representatives, and Francophone representatives.)
A university degree in Education. A related graduate degree would be an asset.
A valid permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate, or be eligible for one.
Extensive current related teaching and leadership experience related to Mathematics in French at the school, jurisdictional and/or provincial level.
Understanding of research on the principles of 21st century learning and curriculum theory, the implications for curriculum development and using technology in learning and teaching.
In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of teaching and learning processes in the area of Mathematics in French.
Background in curriculum and professional development activities designed to support the implementation process and curriculum alignment in the field.
Extensive current related experience in minority and/or second-language teaching/learning.
Knowledge of the needs of Francophone and French immersion students in Alberta.
Excellent communication (oral, written, computer literacy) and interpersonal skills in both English and French.
Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and strong problem solving skills.
Sound project management skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
Commitment to excellence and accountability in education.
