The First Nations, Métis and Inuit Curriculum Branch supports the advancement of Education for Reconciliation through the inclusion of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives and experiences, in historical and contemporary contexts, throughout Alberta Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K–12) curriculum. The branch provides leadership in the implementation of K–12 curricula and supports for teachers addressing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit content and perspectives. The First Nations, Métis and Inuit Curriculum Branch works closely with other branches across the Curriculum Division and department, other ministries, and with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Elders, Knowledge Keepers and educators to enhance curriculum and support K–12 Indigenous language and culture programs.

The First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Curriculum Branch is seeking four educators to join their team in supporting the development and delivery of an innovative, collaborative, student-centered education system in the development and implementation of K–12 curricula and supports for teachers addressing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit content and perspectives.
The term for each role will be two years from approximately September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2021. If applicable, the service days per your collective agreement will be honoured but there will be no guarantee of alignment with your jurisdiction’s natural breaks.
We are seeking strong educators with a background in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit education in grades 7 to 12 for social studies and/or arts education (art, music, dance and/or drama.)
A background in curriculum theory and experience with program development in at least one of these curriculum areas would be an asset. You will establish and maintain strong communication and working relationships with key partners, clients and stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information flow and identification of issues. You will provide curriculum expertise, leadership and collaborate as part of the development and implementation of future programs of study.
These positions require understanding and knowledge of the diverse First Nations, Métis and Inuit perspectives, experiences, cultures, protocols, histories and ways of knowing and the implications for curriculum development and implementation. Knowledge and wisdom are gained and shared through interactions with First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities.
Equivalencies will be considered for a related Master’s Degree plus a minimum of five years related experience as noted above.
