Albertans invited to celebrate teaching
Albertans across the province are invited to recognize current exceptional teachers or principals in their community by nominating them for a 2006 Excellence in Teaching Award. Students, parents, teacher-colleagues, principals and community members all have the opportunity to nominate teachers or principals who have demonstrated excellence in their profession.

Government on track with Learning Commission recommendations
The Government of Alberta has made significant progress in addressing Alberta's Commission on Learning report by adding $551.1 million in new dollars that support the 87 accepted recommendations. This financial investment includes government's decision to accelerate the timeline to reduce jurisdiction class size averages and reach the Commission's class size guidelines two years earlier than recommended.

Education Minister to meet with all Alberta school boards
Alberta Education Minister Gene Zwozdesky began a fall tour to meet with all of the province's 62 school boards, beginning with those in the Fort McMurray area. The Minister will also host receptions for teachers and school parent council representatives in a number of locations following the school board sessions.
