Alberta Education provides leadership, direction, and oversight in the development and delivery of an innovative, collaborative, student-centered education system. We support students, parents, teachers and administrators from Early Childhood Services (ECS) through Grade 12.
Field Services provides support to the Minister, the ministry, key educational stakeholders, provincial school authorities and First Nations school authorities for Kindergarten to Grade 12. The sector has a strategic focus and cohesive approach to implementation of education-related legislation, regulations, policies, programs and initiatives, while understanding local context and priorities among school authorities. Field Services promotes continuous improvement and system effectiveness with school authorities, monitors for compliance on accountability/assurance requirements, and facilitates efforts in areas for improvement. The sector provides supports with issues management and problem solving at the school authority level.

This role will be from approximately September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2020 with possibility for extension (unless the secondment term is three years). The service days per your collective agreement will be honoured, but there will be no guarantee of alignment with your school authority’s natural breaks.
As part of the South Services Branch based in Calgary, and reporting to the Field Services Manager, you will work closely with key educational stakeholders to support school authorities so students can: learn in a safe, caring, welcoming and healthy learning environment; achieve proficiency in literacy and numeracy; have their learning needs supported and achieve learning outcomes and demonstrate citizenship and entrepreneurship. In addition, you will work with key educational stakeholders to provide expert knowledge, facilitation of change and continuous improvement and ensure that Alberta Education is well informed on the strengths and challenges in the Kindergarten to Grade 12 system.
A key component of this work will be to continue to leverage the unique relationships Field Services has with education stakeholders so that school authorities are strongly supported.
The successful candidate is passionate about students finding success and is capable of strategic planning and taking ideas from design through to implementation. The successful candidate is able to make timely evidence-based decisions to ensure major projects targets and goals are achieved. Exceptional communication and organization skills are key, as well as the ability to use interpersonal skills to build positive relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders is essential to this role.
