Field Services provides support to the Minister, the ministry, and both provincial and First Nations Education Authorities. Field Services supports the implementation of education related legislation, regulations, policies, and Accountability Pillar, programs and initiatives for Early Childhood Services to Grade 12, through the establishment of purposeful relationships in support of student success.

This role will be from approximately September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2020. The service days per your collective agreement will be honoured, but there will be no guarantee of alignment with your school authority’s natural breaks.
As part of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Services Branch and reporting to a Field Services Manager, you will work closely with provincial and First Nation Education authorities, the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Directorate, and other ministry/government partners to support First Nations, Métis, and Inuit student success. You will promote innovation and system effectiveness to ensure that all Alberta students are knowledgeable, understanding and respectful of First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples – their cultures, languages, histories, treaties, and the legacy of residential schools. In addition, you will work with key educational stakeholders to provide expert knowledge and facilitation of change and continuous improvement to ensure that Alberta Education is well informed on the strengths and challenges in both provincial and First Nations education systems across the province.
A key component of this work will be to coordinate and support the field work associated with the Organization For Economic Co-operation And Development (OECD) "Promising Practices in Supporting Success in Indigenous Students" report. In addition, you will leverage the unique relationship of Field Services Managers and stakeholders ensuring that provincial and First Nations education authorities are strongly supported.
The successful candidate is passionate about students, finding success and is capable of strategic planning and taking ideas from design through to implementation. The successful candidate is able to make timely evidence-based decisions and ensure major project targets and goals are achieved. Exceptional communication and organization skills are key; as well, the ability to use interpersonal skills to build positive relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders is essential.
