Authorization indicates that the resources meet Alberta Education’s evaluation criteria. However, the use of authorized resources is not mandatory for program delivery. The decision to use provincially authorized resources is at the discretion of the teacher and the principal, in alignment with policies set by their school authority.

Teachers use their professional judgement, and their knowledge of their students and their local community, to select the most appropriate resources to meet the needs of their students.
