Set up an activity circuit in the gym. Students should spend 10 minutes at each station.

Start the class by having students take their resting heart rate (either with a heart monitor or by taking their pulse manually).

Then have students predict what their heart rate will be after 5 to 10 minutes of activity at each station.

Start students at each station of the circuit. Have them take their actual pulse after 5 to 10 minutes at a station. Record it on their record sheet and see how close they came to their prediction.

Which stations caused the greatest elevation in heart rate? Why? Were you close to your prediction? Were you surprised by any of the results?
