Add One, Add Two - Outcome A (7-9)-11

As students become proficient at the forearm pass for volleyball, try this game to encourage them to move into position.

Split the class into teams of four to six students. Arrange the teams on either side of the net.

How to Play

  • A player from one team serves the ball over the net.
  • The receiving team must use a forearm pass or overhead pass to have at least two people touch the ball before returning the ball over the net.
  • The original side must then contact the ball three times using a forearm pass or overhead pass before returning the ball. Each team forces the other to add one more contact.
  • Players cannot touch the ball twice in a row.

At the end of the drill, ask the students how many contacts each group was able to reach. See if they can reach a goal of having every student touch the ball before it goes over the net.

Students can toss the ball over the net.

The ball can bounce before contact.

Use a beach ball.

These are clues that you have reached the outcomes ...
