In Squads, students spread out, stand, gentle arm swing to check for safe personal space.
Teacher Lead with some self discovery. T demo's good stance, hands up for use. Students follow, T- "quietly, gently sit down. Students up, down, Teacher asks students to follow and face teacher as T rotates around students in their squads, T- Up, students up and face teacher as they rotate to always face the teacher. Teacher dodges left and right as students follow. T- show proper use of hands to support safe movement up and down. Add shuffling, jumping with soft landings ect. Students maintain personal space and a good balanced body position . Have students move across the gym remaining a good safe distance between others. Forward left rifgt back carefully, shufffle, skip, hop, avoid touching lines, head up- how many fingers am I
showing. Culminating: play frozen tag, sharks and fishes, Pom Pom, to test movment safety and control in game application. Encourage use of hands up to protect from contact or head to head crashes. Ensure stopping on feet, adequate safety boundaries, use of peripheral vision. |

Assessment Strategies |
|
Observe movement, Reward (smile, cheer) good spatial control between others, encourage soft quiet landings and movement. Challenge squads to follow together and identify superior movement control. Encourage use of hands in front to get up and absorb the forces of getting up and down. Show and have students experiment by touching their bones and muscles to realize what is for contact when landing. Knee cap, elbow, head: crack, smack Ouch! contact versus the muscle butt, leg, hand pads, or feet contact of: ah, bouncy, cushion absorbing contact. This is your chance to be humourous. |
