Education and Childcare permits school authorities to develop off-campus education programs and courses in accordance with prescribed guidelines and procedures. Such programs allow junior and senior high school students to investigate a variety of career opportunities by participating in safe and caring off-campus education experiences.
Off-campus education programs also allow senior high school students to gain practical experience as they apply and expand their knowledge, skills and attitudes in contexts that will help them make wise decisions regarding their future education, training and employment upon leaving high school and allow for a smooth transition from school to post-secondary or work or both.
- The consolidated and simplified Draft Off-campus Education Handbook (2025) provides guidance for implementing off-campus education programs and is available for piloting until March 31, 2026.
- During piloting, feedback will be collected through an online survey.
- During the 2025/26 school year, use of the revised handbook is optional.
- During the 2026/27 school year, use of the revised handbook will be mandatory.
- Updated Draft Off-Campus Education Handbook: Tip Sheets (2025) and Draft Off-Campus Education Handbook: Sample Forms (2025) are now available.
- During the 2025/26 school year, the current Off-campus Education Handbook (2019) remains the official source of guidance for off-campus education and programs.
