Initiatives across the province are enhancing success in the areas of student and parent engagement, relationship-building, governance, language and culture. Below are a few examples of programs and initiatives underway in the province:
St. Thomas More High School – Edmonton Catholic School Division
High school graduation coach – coaching grade 9 students to ease transitions to high school.
St. Andrew’s School – Holy Family Catholic Regional Division No. 37
Teachers are taking ownership of school plans, adding First Nations, Métis and Inuit perspectives.
École Springfield Elementary School – Peace River School Division No. 10
Tracking the progress of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, and using data to inform teaching practice.
Ben Calf Robe School – Edmonton Catholic School Division
An Elder’s Circle and a strong Parent Council work with teachers to create a strong sense of belonging and community.
Bassano School – Grasslands Public Schools
All students who attend the school experience a warm, welcoming, respectful and safe environment. For First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, a designated cultural room offers access to services to support student success.
