The Teacher Workforce Information System (TWINS) is Alberta Education’s teacher registry used for teacher certification. In addition to applying for certification, it offers many functions for Alberta certificated teachers and others to check information and request services.
By completing the request online, you may have your Letter of Authority re-issued. There is a fee of $25, payable through TWINS Teacher Self-Service.
Teachers who are currently certificated to teach in Alberta may request a duplicate certificate through TWINS Teacher Self-Service. There is $25 fee, payable online.
If you have changed your name, you must send in documentation that details all names that you have used for legal purposes through TWINS Teacher Self-Service. The following documents are acceptable forms of evidence:
If you received a teaching certificate in Alberta and wish to teach outside of Alberta, you may be required to provide a Statement of Standing as evidence that you hold or have held valid teaching authority in Alberta.
The Statement of Professional Standing shows:
A request for a Name Change or an Education Credential Change must be processed prior to a request for a Statement of Standing. If you have submitted a Name Change request, ensure evidence of the name change is sent to our office.
If you have submitted an Education Credential Change request, ensure official transcripts are sent to our office directly from the institution(s).
Your request will be queued for processing once payment has been received. The Statement of Professional Standing will be mailed directly to the Certification Office(s) that you identify in your request. A copy will also be sent to you for your records. It is essential you review and update your mailing address on file with TWINS self-service to ensure accuracy. There is a fee of $25 payable online through TWINS Teacher Self-Service.
TWINS requires complete and up to date information regarding your education credentials. You may verify and update this information through the TWINS Teacher Self-Service.
Transcripts are required to update your educational credentials and you will need to arrange to have official transcripts from the institution(s) where the credentials were earned sent directly to the Registrar at Alberta Education. You are responsible for making the request for transcript(s) from the institution(s).
Teachers and applicants can update their address, email address, and phone numbers online through TWINS Teacher Self-Service. Please review your contact information annually, and any time there is a change or you request a service from Alberta Education. Ensure that your employing school authority also has current contact information.
