Connection: Information for Teachers (January 2012)

New Diploma Examinations for Mathematics 30-1 and 30-2

Information Sessions
Information sessions regarding the draft blueprints and sample items for the Mathematics 30-1 and 30-2 diploma examinations are being offered through the Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortia this school year. Through these sessions, participants will have the opportunity to develop some machine-scored items for their classrooms. Contact your local consortium for session dates.

Support Documents
Information Bulletins and Assessment Standards and Exemplars for the Mathematics 30-1 and 30-2 diploma examinations will be posted in both English and French in the spring of 2012. These documents will contain the examination blueprints, notes for teachers, assessment standards, formula sheets and sample questions. Sample questions will also be posted on Quest A+ prior to implementation of the Mathematics 30-1 and 30-2 diploma examinations in the fall of 2012.

Teacher Involvement
Teachers are encouraged to submit their names via their principal to their superintendent to be added to the Mathematics 30-1 and 30-2 diploma examination committee list for the 2011–2012 school year. Nominations are accepted throughout the school year, and there will be numerous opportunities to item-write, validate field tests and validate diploma examinations.
