Ice Cream Walk - Outcome D (K-3)-6

Have the children help you determine the distance to the nearest ice cream store where they could buy cones. Figure out how many laps of the gym or the field outside would equal the distance to the ice cream store. Once a week, have all the children take part in a walking activity. Use a wall chart to keep track of the distance walked, and clearly mark the goal.

Once the goal is reached, bring in cones and ice cream for the children to enjoy.

Tabulate individual laps from each child to reach the total or decide that all children must complete the distance.

The goal could be a swimming pool or park (with a visit to the pool or park as the reward) or whatever you and your class decide on.

These are clues that you have reached the outcomes ...

The students are reaching their daily or weekly goals.
