Human Knot
- Outcome C (7-9)-4
|
Sample T-Chart for Cooperation |
Divide the class into two equal teams (Team A
and Team B). The object of this game is to create a knot of students
and then have them untangle the knot without releasing hands.
The students form a tight circle, shoulder to
shoulder. All students close their eyes. On a count of three, they
reach into the middle of the circle and grab hands with people around
or across from them. Then they open their eyes and work together
to untie the knot without breaking the hand link.
The first team to create a circle again without
breaking hands gets to choose their equipment for the class.

Discuss the following questions with the students:
- How were you successful?
- What would have made your group faster or more successful?
- What strategies did not work?
- Why is being a good leader so important when playing games?
- Why is being a good follower so important when playing
games?
Relate this discussion to the leadership qualities that will
be needed in the remainder of the unit. For example:
- When passing a ball in a three vs. three situation, it
is important to use all the available players on your team
and not just your friends.
- In order to be heard and seen in a game, it is important
to speak up and move to an open space, ready for a pass.
