Mining for Goals

Set some goals as to what you want to accomplish in the seven or more hours you'll be completing in this dimension. Work on getting the most out of each activity. Challenge your abilities alone or in a group, and learn about the "gym" out your front door. If you already know what you're pretty good at, challenge yourself to learn something new. Or work on improving your skills in activities you already enjoy. Stumped for ideas? Try some of these sample goals:

This week, try hiking to a specific location. Choose a site that is a challenging distance. For some of you that will be a 20 minute walk. For others it could mean hiking for two or three hours. Be sure to carry water and sunscreen, and to keep in mind all safety considerations. How are you going to reach this goal? What do you have to do to make it happen? What if it rains? Are you prepared for snow, wind, or heat?

Maybe your goal is to learn how to cast a line while fly fishing. What do you need to do to make this happen? Do you need to borrow a rod? Do you need to find a person you trust who can teach you? How are you going to get to a fly fishing stream? How are you going to stay safe? Find solutions to the obstacles that may stand in the way of your goal.

Now that you're leading an active way of life be sure to pat yourself on the back! You're working hard at making time to play.
