Skipping
- Outcome A (10-30)-13
|
Every student needs a skipping rope, and
will include skipping as part of their warmup each class.
Discuss the benefits of skipping.
Take the students through a variety of skipping
techniques. Have each student demonstrate an example of a
different type of skipping. The demonstrations could include
the following:
- Two-foot jumps
- One foot alternating
jumps
- One-foot jumps
- Skipping with
a partner
- Crossing your
arms in front every five jumps.
|
Once the students have tried several techniques,
they should challenge themselves with new techniques and greater
endurance. Students should set a goal related to skipping.
This could lead to partner or group routines and
potentially a skipping contest or demonstration.
Set out specific task cards. Have the students
work at their own pace and level to improve their abilities and
endurance.
These
are clues that you have reached the outcomes ...
The skipping action is rhythmic and prolonged.
Students demonstrate improvement in the
number of different types of skipping actions they can perform,
as well as in the length of time they can perform without making
a mistake.
