Paddle Bat Activities

Individual Games (using beanbags)

  • See how many times you can flip and catch the beanbag on your bat.
  • See how many times you can flip and catch the beanbag alternating backhand and forehand flips and catches.
  • Race from one side of the gym to the other carrying the beanbag on the bat. If the beanbag falls off, you must start over.
  • Go across the gym carrying the beanbag on the bat. When you reach the other side, flip the beanbag to the other side of the bat and then go back to the starting line.

Partner Drills (using beanbags)

  • Throw the beanbag to partner who catches it on the bat or traps it with hand and bat.
  • Flip it to partner who catches it on the bat or traps it.
  • Flip beanbag to partner who hits it.
  • Flip beanbag through a hoop held in the air by partner.

Individual Games (using balls)

  • See how many pop-ups you can get without a miss.
  • See how many pop-ups you can get alternating forehand and backhand hits.
  • See if you can get more backhand pop-ups than forehand pop-ups.
  • Back up - hit the ball against the wall, catch the rebound (either after one floor bounce or directly off the wall). Move back one step each time you are successful to see how far away from the wall you can get. If you miss, you must start over.
  • See how many continuous hits you can get against the wall (ball may bounce once on the floor).

Partner Drills (using balls)

  • Pop-up to partner who catches it.
  • Bounce to partner who catches it.
  • Hit against wall, partner catches rebound.
  • One person throws the ball against the wall, partner hits the rebound.
  • Throw to partner who hits it back - one bounce or directly into the air.

Many of these activities can also be done with scoops or rubber chickens.
