Fruit Salad Tag
- Outcome B (K-3)-1
Talk with your students
about the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables everyday.
Divide the students into
four groups and choose a fruit name for each group (or for older
students, let them choose a fruit). All the students line up at
one end of the gym. You (the instructor) stand in the middle of
the gym. Make sure you have identified a slow down zone at the opposite
end of the gym, so students stop before they come to the wall.
You
call each of the fruits one at a time. When you call the fruit name,
that group of children runs to the other end of the gym, trying
not to be tagged by you. If they are tagged, they must stand at
the side of the gym. But don't worry, students won't be standing
long.
When
the teacher calls Fruit Salad, all the fruits run to the other side
of the gym. Any tagged "fruits" perform a specified activity (eg.,
Jumping jacks, crab-walking back to the starting point), then they
rejoin the game.
Have
other students be the "Fruit nappers" (the taggers) or once
tagged, they help to tag others.
