Tower Topple
- Outcome A (7-9)-5
|
Overhand Throwing
|
Team A and Team B are on opposite sides of the gym, separated by
the center line. Each team has 12 Hula Hoops. They use these to
create four towers, each made from three Hula Hoops (one on the
floor, the remaining two leaning against each other in the floor
hoop). The towers are located on the back line of each teams
half.
Students have access to a multitude of foam-filled
or other soft balls. The object of the game is to knock over the
other teams four towers.
Once a tower is knocked over, the team rebuilds
the tower. There is no limit as to how many times a tower may be
knocked over and set up again.
The game ends after a prescribed time limit.
Allow students to set up the towers anywhere in
their half of the gym, rather than only at the back line.
Use smaller balls to increase the level of difficulty.
Use a smaller target to increase the level of
difficulty.
Allow one student to stand guard in front of the
target. This introduces more strategy to the game.
These are clues that you have reached
the outcomes ...
Students become more proficient at aiming at a
target, whether it is distant or close.
